Gai Wan, 盖碗
This is a Chinese Gaiwan of a uniqie glaze called Ji Lan (霁蓝). Ji Lan glazing technique was first invented during the Ming Dynasty (1368－1644). It is characterized by a deep ocean like light or dark blue, perfectly clean, even and stable. Some describes it as blue gem like bright and stable as blue gem.
This is a Chinese Gaiwan glazed by the premium dark blue Ji Lan glaze and decorated by an up facing gold heron, symbolizing elegance and uplifting spirit. It has the ultra smooth surface and texture of the Ji Lan, deep ocean dark blue color as the background that presents a sense of mysterious, yet rich spirituality.
